All Frames in the Gift Shop are for sale

All frames are guaranteed to be original antique and collectible pieces. They can be purchased using personal checks, money orders, and Paypal. My address is Stuart Schneider, 820 Kinderkamack Road, River Edge, NJ 07661 and my Paypal name is Stuarts1031@ erols.com (note, I put a space in there so that automatic email harvesters don't get my email address). Postage and handling, and insurance (if you want it) will be added to your order once the weight is figured (I need your mailing address to figure postage). I mail using the US Postal Service with delivery confirmation or UPS. Email me at Stuart at wordcraft dot net to reserve the item numbers that you want.

Terms: You can return any item to me within 10 days for any reason. If I totally misdescribed it, I will refund your postage both ways. If you are dissatisfied, you pay postage both ways. Note: Some of these frames are 100 to 175 years old. Generally, there may be some slight damage to the surface or a chip or two. I have tried to make each photo large enough so that you can see what I am offering. Note that the dimensions given are accurate if you need to fit a certain picture. There is usually a 1/4 to a 3/8 inch "wiggle room" so that a slightly smaller image will fit the frame. The "sight" edge is the inside of the frame. I sell frames without the glass. Your local glass shop or framing shop can cut the right size glass for you. If you have concerns, please ask in advance.

A very bizarre, hand decorated frame that originally came on a Moon landing painting. Believed to be by noted folk artist, Alexander Aramburo Maldonado, who was born in Mazatlan, Mexico on December 17, 1901.  Maldonado moved to San Francisco in 1911.  He worked in the shipyards before becoming a professional boxer and fighting under the name Frankie Baker.  A self-taught artist, he drew his first picture in 1961 and took up painting, including the picture frames.  Maldonado treated contemporary themes—pollution, mass communication, the exploration of space—but there is absolutely nothing banal in his circus-like depiction of these themes, a depiction that owes its uniqueness to a genuinely childlike imagination. A fan of science fiction and astronomy, he painted a bright, futuristic world that included cityscapes and modernistic buildings.  Maldonado was discovered in 1973. In the next few years he was to rise from total obscurity to international recognition. Maldonado’s work has appeared in more than a dozen books and publications and is represented in numerous private and public collections, including: The National Museum of American Art; The Smithsonian Institution; Washington D.C.; The Museum of American Folk Art in New York, and three museums in the Bay Area. He died in San Francisco, CA on February 10, 1989. The frame is 14 3/4 x 17 3/4 inches od. and has a 11 1/4 x 14 inch pic. size. $40.00, item #13-205
